Simplicity is Elegance

"A designer knows he has achieved perfection NOT when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away." - Antoine de Saint-Exupery, excerpt from The Little Prince

Saddlery has been a prestigious craft for centuries. In fact, before French fashion house Hermes was renowned for the Birkin bag and silk scarves, it was known for making harness, saddles and bridles for horses. Each of these saddles was crafted for a specific use and their form follows function. The Western saddle was developed for herding cattle and designed for the comfort of the rider. The English saddle has developed to enhance the communication between horse and rider. It has a combination of about 40 types of leather shaped to a wood base or tree. The cavalry saddle is solely fort comfort of the horse - and after a 50 mile competitive trail ride the horse was fine, but the rider was crippled!
